Sons' Suns Now Done

The sons have had their run
Their wheels stopped to turn
Gone never to return
To the city old hymns sung
Old Njenga, Karume's son
N Michuki, Christined John

In age their stars still shone
And endeavors of youth shown
Gave to the last breath and bone
Off they rode days between
Its a pair paired in vein
Like one was the others' twin

Watch how they spread their throne
And masses their way drawn
Little by little empires grown
Pressing patience the balloons blown
Decoration medals their live tune

Never pretentious was his tongue
And ruthless his venomous fang
But every wall his portrait hung
His turns are in litany sung
The metal that was John
On Nairobi River almost swam

And he of Karumes' gene
With an eye for a charcoals shine
Ain't gold after all carbon?
Let's escape the prisons within
It's not really where we begin
Just gather the strength to win

The young got a boost to begin
To the old they are king
To be is all but brain
And to toil your hands train
The truth of pain in gain
Whose absence none would've been

My moan takes a new turn
For heroes with suns done
Torturous days bravely Bourne
A legacy self-cast on stone
Rest in Peace Njenga Karume
Rest in Peace John Michuki

WAKE ME UP

Cry Aloysius baby cry
Stir nights in calm in pretence
Call till to thy help I come
Loud enough to drown my dream

Wake when the hope’s dwindling
Of a tomorrow shinning and twinkly
Remind me of dreams fading
And others out of steam and halting

Wake me to love one and all
For what path did you follow?
Your tiny entire in my hand to hold
Your world behold and behold the world

Wake me to virtue of tongue
And of act no matter the turn
And in darkness if raid my weakness
Let your cry affirm my strength

Wake me up at night’s noon
The moon be full or all blue
That a better dawn I must present
When the sun shutters the horizon East

Loy, call me to dream
To fly high on jet stream
To always seek that cream
Should I falter, if you have to scream!

Wake the best before I rest
To lax living forever detest
I f only to keep that smile
For the time this earth you dwell

Amid the turmoil you lie so silent
No bang to loud your dream to cut
For Mom is there and so is daddy
They’ll hand it, thy soul is well

Cry Loy cry my Loy
Wake in me a father’s joy
Let my arms lock till you lie
Roar oh Loy, roar with joy
