Still darkest before dawn
Waylaid by figures unknown
Claws like sharp daggers drawn
Chilled to silence and steel frozen
Darkness biting and long hours
Intimidating stillness all to despair
But neither did your soul scare
Or for a second despair
Just at the break of dawn
All swords drawn, the sun rose
Energy reserve with vengeance drain
Thirst and heat to edges toss
Not even once did you dare blink
or an inch your flair shrink
In solid courage your fate you face
No taint or trace of fear on your face
Wild winds whistled your way
From the earth your face to erase
Unmoved by threats and inflated stunts
Still stuck, an inch didn't tilt
By your side they shamefully brushed
Not a mark of a simple bruise
A decorated soldier you stand
A hero, for ages to be told
Clouds gathered and thunder rumbled
Lightening set horizons alight
Hails shred the leaves thin
Floods pooled to sweep the field
All artillery buried in the mud
To launched they famed attack
And the minute they were done
You stood firm like a morning blade
As the day drew its curtains
And soldiers return home
Tall among them you stand
A soldier who has won it all
